Midjourney, Inc. is best known for its AI image generator Midjourney and has so far only been active in the software sector. Now the CEO and founder of Midjourney, David Holz, surprisingly announced on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday that the company is working on a new hardware product.
Currently, the San Francisco-based company has annual recurring revenue of $200 million with a team of less than 100 employees and is estimated to be worth $10 billion, according to the TechCrunch report . Although Holz did not provide any specific details about the upcoming product, he made it clear that the hardware will help to increase the performance and efficiency of Midjourney's existing software products.

New stage of development
Although the exact specifications and launch date of Midjourney's new hardware have not yet been released, the hiring of former Neuralink employee Ahmad Abbas in February could be a clue. He was also involved in the development of the Apple Vision Pro, as TechCrunch explains.
The introduction of hardware can also be seen as a strategic move that allows Midjourney to expand its customer base, strengthen its market position and differentiate itself from the competition. Recently, Midjourney has also introduced AI models for video and 3D generation, which are particularly in demand in the creative industry, further consolidating its position.
