The services of the Internet company United Internet are currently affected by disruptions. The first disruptions have been occurring since around half past nine on Thursday morning, according to Ionos.

On the Ionos status page, for example, the company reports that some websites have been unavailable since 9:36 a.m., that telephone customer service has been experiencing long waiting times since around 11 a.m. and that the e-mail systems have been experiencing technical problems since around 10:43 a.m..
Unknown cause
The cause of the outages is still unknown. Ionos only writes of an "outage at one of our main locations". Ionos does not explain what failed and why.

Other services are also affected. United Internet is also displaying a banner on web.de indicating an outage.

The same banner can be found on the GMX services. The company writes: "There may currently be restrictions in the operation of our e-mail systems and access to the mailbox. We are working on restoring the full functionality of the affected mailboxes as quickly as possible. We apologize for any delays." United Internet remains silent on the exact causes.
According to the individual brands, the technicians have been informed and are working to rectify the fault. However, it is still completely unclear when the services will be fully accessible again.
Service outages are unusual, but they can happen. On Wednesday of this week, for example, there was a nationwide IT outage at public offices in the Netherlands. The cause was reportedly the Ministry of Defense there.
