App drama at Sonos: Public Trello board informs about updates
The trouble surrounding the botched launch of the new app is still haunting Sonos. Now a public Trello board is to keep users up to date.

Sonos now informs its users about the development progress of its app with a publicly accessible Trello board. The board combines release notes for updates that have already been released with a roadmap of future changes that are currently under development. Help and support documents can also be found there.
The new Trello board from Sonos was put together by a Sonos community manager and presented on Reddit. According to the post, he organizes the Trello board on his own. In doing so, he relies on announcements and release notes that Sonos has published in various places. The aim is therefore to bring this information together in one place and provide a better overview of development progress.
The community manager also emphasizes that the list is not complete and that Sonos is working on other features that are not listed there. Among other things, the Trello board lists Trueplay support for iOS 18 and improvements to the user interface as new features that are about to be released.
Peace offering to the community
The public Trello board can be seen as a further peace offering to the Sonos community, which has been in turmoil since the botched launch of the new app in May. When the new app was released, it lacked numerous features such as a sleep timer, local music search and an alarm clock. The old app, which included all these features, can no longer be used since the release of the new version. Many users therefore consider the new Sonos application to be an improvement for the worse.
Sonos has therefore been trying for months to limit the damage and make amends. Initially, several developers tried to calm the waters in a forum FAQ. Finally, Sonos CEO Patrick Spence personally apologized in a forum post.

"We know that too many of you have had significant issues with our new app," Spence wrote in the post. "There isn't an employee at Sonos who isn't sorry for letting you down." Reports later emerged that Sonos could even bring back the old app as a temporary solution while the new one was being revised. This has not yet happened.
