E-prescription and co: terminal in supermarket enables medication orders
A supermarket in Brandenburg now has an order terminal for medicines. Customers can also use it to fill e-prescriptions and order medicines.
With online retail and Cardlink, the air is getting thinner and thinner for local pharmacies, which is causing some creativity among pharmacists.

An order terminal for medicines has been put into operation at the Marktkauf center in Prenzlau in Brandenburg, as reported by the Deutsche Apotheker Zeitung (DAZ), among others. According to the report, customers can also order prescription drugs via the terminal by scanning their e-prescription token or electronic health card.
The orders are delivered the next day by courier to the specified address or are available for collection from the "Green Pharmacy". The original plan was for the medication to be collected immediately from the terminal. However, no pick-up stations for medicines are permitted outside pharmacies. Privately insured persons can primarily order non-prescription medicines via the terminal.
Digital collection points
Michael Kranz, owner of the GrĂĽne Apotheke pharmacy, and the manager of the Marktkauf branch opted for the ordering terminal in order to provide their customers with easier access to medicines, particularly in rural areas .

Kranz already operates a "pick-up point" in the neighboring village at the request of the local mayor – where a conventional on-site pharmacy is not economically viable and the collection point for prescriptions is a good alternative according to Kranz. According to the DAZ, the machines are provided by the company "BetterAPO". Kranz does not see them as a replacement, but merely as a supplement for pharmacy teams.
