The Apple Watch has made a new leap in size, the third in 10 years. The display of the Series 10 is even a tad larger than that of the Apple Watch Ultra, as the manufacturer emphasized at the iPhone 16 event on Monday. The case is only slightly larger: the side lengths of 41 mm and 45 mm for Series 7 to 9 are now 42 mm and 46 mm for the Apple Watch Series 10. Apple has made hardly any changes to the basic design; the rectangular display remains. Older wristbands can still be used.
The housing of the smartwatch, which is now equipped with an S10 chip, is slightly thinner and lighter. For the first time, music and other audio content can be output via improved speakers. The integrated voice isolation makes phone calls easier to hear in noisy environments. Apple also promises that the watch will detect sleep apnea during sleep tracking for the first time. The user is then alerted to brief interruptions in breathing. Medical approval will be granted shortly. The function will also be available on last year's Series 9 and Ultra 2 models.
According to Apple, the Series 10 is better designed for water sports. Like the Ultra, the cheaper model also records water depth (up to 6 meters) and water temperature. A tide app is also new, although this should also be coming to other watch generations with watchOS 11. The manufacturer does not promise a longer battery life for the Series 10, with a maximum of 18 hours still specified. Nevertheless, the watch is said to be stepping up a gear when it comes to fast charging.
Apple Watch Series 10: prices and availability

In Germany, the Series 10 is available from 450 euros, the larger 46mm model from 480 euros. The mobile phone version costs at least 570 euros.
