Contrary to speculation: RAM of the iPhone 16 variants is the same
An Apple boss has now confirmed in an interview that all variants of the iPhone 16 will have 8 GB of RAM. One function was decisive.

An Apple department head has confirmed that all iPhone 16 variants will be equipped with 8 GB of RAM. As Apple's Senior Vice President of Hardware, Johny Srouji, explained in an interview with Geekerwan, the measure is primarily intended to support Apple Intelligence, Apple's on-board AI functions. It was previously assumed that the iPhone 16 Pro could have 12 GB of RAM.
In the iPhone 15 series, there was still a distinction between the iPhone 15 with 6 GB of RAM and the iPhone 15 Pro with 8 GB of RAM. According to Srouji, the decision to equip the entire iPhone 16 series with 8 GB of RAM was not only made because of Apple Intelligence.
Gaming also played a role
He also referred to other areas of application such as gaming. In the interview, the Apple manager provided insights into the hardware decision-making processes at Apple. For the iPhone, the company decided that a combination of two performance cores and four efficiency cores would best meet the requirements.
