Oracle has announced a number of additions and enhancements to its Fusion platform at its recent customer event. These include an updated version of Fusion Cloud Supply Chain & Manufacturing (SCM), which has been enhanced with a number of features. These include real-time insights into manufacturing, generative AI-powered reporting and improvements to maintenance and order management.

Oracle also offers the permanent integration of RFID technologies from Avery Dennison, Terso Solutions and Zebra Technologies. First and foremost, this makes it possible to record consumption in real time, update stock levels, track location and trigger automatic replenishment. The automatic updates help to reduce human error while ensuring that the required stocks are always available. Oracle showed an application example from the healthcare sector in which medical supplies (medicines, aids, implants, etc.) can be called up by the system not only in terms of quantity, but also in terms of location. The software can also trigger automatic reorders or stock alerts depending on the item. As a particular advantage, it was pointed out that no human error can occur in the automatic processes.

Improvements have also been made to Smart Operations for Manufacturing. Here, operational problems can be identified and resolved more quickly. The associated Smart Operations for Maintenance can now trigger maintenance alarms that require immediate attention. Fusion Cloud Order Management has also been updated and can now be used to perform mass updates on multiple order items. Finally, new search functions have been added to Fusion Cloud Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) to make it quicker to find items and easier to configure critical objects and navigation paths.

Oracle's SCM is closely interlinked with other business modules. Here, the Group referred to the use at logistics company DHL Supply Chain, which has combined Oracle's cloud ERP with Fusion Applications for HR and supply chain management. For example, the company was able to centralize HR processes with Fusion Cloud Human Capital Management (HCM) and can now better manage its global workforce. Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) has also helped DHL Supply Chain improve transportation processes, reduce delays, mitigate transportation risks and speed up order fulfillment.

The company received an Oracle Excellence Award for its use of Oracle Cloud in finance. "We needed to optimize and future-proof our global operations by standardizing financial processes in over 40 countries, which has reduced costs and accelerated decision-making," says Dietrich Franz, CFO at DHL Supply Chain about the award-winning solution.

Another major announcement concerns Fusion Data Intelligence, which has now been expanded to include AI-supported functions. The new version combines proven analytics with new AI and machine learning models, enabling faster decision making. The new functions include the People Leader Workbench for Oracle Cloud HCM, which is used in HR to adapt talent strategies to changing business requirements. The new functions in the Supply Chain Command Center for Oracle Cloud SCM enable a faster response to changing demands, offers and market conditions by making AI-based recommendations for all supply chains. All of this is topped off with an AI-powered developer assistant that helps developers use generative AI to optimize the Fusion Data Intelligence service and connect third-party data sources faster through a guided, step-by-step process.
