Nvidia boss Jensen Huang opens CES 2025
Every year, the CES trade fair provides a preview of upcoming hardware. In January, Nvidia's CEO holds what is probably the most important CES keynote.

Nvidia's boss Jensen Huang will be giving a presentation – called a keynote in industry parlance at the next CES. The organizer, the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), will be broadcasting it via livestream. However, if you want to watch the stream live from Europe, you should prepare some caffeinated drinks: It starts at 3:30 a.m. on the night of January 6-7.
An official CES keynote is unusual for Huang; he normally stays away from the trade fair. In recent years, Nvidia has only published pre-recorded monologues by GeForce CEO Jeff Fisher. Siemens CEO Roland Busch opened CES in 2024 and AMD CEO Lisa Su in 2023.
The CTA avoids the term "opening keynote" in the Nvidia announcement because this was already promised to Panasonic CEO Yuki Kusumi. However, Nvidia is half a day ahead of Panasonic – in the evening (local time) before the official start of the trade fair. The company itself is credited with the opening keynote.

AI remains the hot topic
Huang is currently the superstar in the semiconductor world because Nvidia is by far the largest supplier of AI accelerators. Companies such as Google, Meta, Microsoft and OpenAI use the cards to train and execute their AI algorithms in the cloud.
Meanwhile, the keynote announcement suggests that the focus will be on artificial intelligence: "Nvidia's accelerated computing and AI platforms are installed in hundreds of millions of computers, available from all major cloud and server manufacturers, power 76 percent of the world's fastest supercomputers from the Top500 list and have more than 5 million developers."
However, the timing could also be right to announce the GeForce RTX 5090 and GeForce RTX 5080 gaming graphics cards from the Blackwell generation. The rumor mill is debating whether the models will be released in 2024 or 2025. In the latter case, a CES unveiling would be realistic.
