In October 2024, Amazon Prime subscribers in the USA will be able to add Apple TV+ content as a channel. The dedicated Apple app will then no longer be necessary; the videos can be accessed on any device that supports Prime Video. Amazon is thus integrating Apple TV+ into its own interface, just like other streaming services. Around 100 providers in the USA have already taken this step.
The expanded cooperation was announced by Amazon's Prime boss, Mike Hopkins, at a Bloomberg conference. Shortly afterwards, Amazon announced the new offer and also named the price: Apple TV+ as a channel costs USD 9.99 per month. This is the same price as subscribing directly to Apple, and apart from the integration into the Prime interface, there seems to be no reason to switch.
Prime Video soon to be profitable
Mike Hopkins gave a subtle hint as to why Apple might have decided to do this: Prime Video offers "hundreds of millions of subscribers around the world" he told Bloomberg. Apparently, Apple wants to gain more visibility on all kinds of devices and is hoping for more subscribers. Prime Video, in which Amazon has been investing heavily for over ten years, should be profitable "very soon", Mike Hopkins also said.

Amazon and Apple have been working closely together for several years. Since 2017, there has also been an app for Prime Video on Apple's streaming box called Apple TV. The company also offers Apple's other devices directly via Amazon. The two companies did not provide any information on a possible cooperation between their in-house studios for the production of new content.
