With Data Cloud One, Salesforce is introducing an extension to its cloud functions: Multiple departments (in Salesforce: orgs) can now work together on the same data in a structured way. Each department has its own interface with its own functions for CRM and analysis, while the database contains the valid reference data as a single source of truth. The exchange of metadata between departments is automated and simple low-code functions are available for linking.
At the center of Cloud One is the Home Org, where all data converges, while logical units are grouped into Data Spaces. Thanks to the automated exchange of metadata, other departments (companion orgs) can access the functions released for them directly from their Cloud One application. This standardizes the complex of CRM, data, analysis and security in one network. The recently introduced AI functions are also integrated.

When setting up Data Cloud One, users see a list of Data Spaces that have been released for them. After authentication, more details about the shared data and functions for analyses and CRM appear. Three Companion Connections are automatically available upon registration and are included in the Salesforce Cloud package. Additional Connections can be booked.

The blog entry for One describes how each department previously had its own data, configurations, users or security policies. Access to the data cloud was separate and the exchange of data and functions between departments was time-consuming and had to be set up manually with code.
