E-book reader: Kindle from Amazon now also with color display
Amazon is now also focusing on color for e-book readers. In addition, the Scribe is now a device with a focus on note-taking functions.

Amazon has updated its range of e-book readers and is now selling the Kindle Colorsoft with a color display for the first time. This was announced by the US company on Wednesday. According to Amazon, the colors would help with the search in the covers, improve the display of photos and images in the e-books and enable colored markings in the texts. With the Kindle Scribe, Amazon is also adding a reader to its range that combines the functions of the Kindle with a "digital notebook". There are also revised Kindle Paperwhite and devices for children.

While the displayed colors do not even come close to the range and brilliance of smartphone screens, the color e-readers can score with the well-known long battery life. According to Amazon, the Colorsoft is also waterproof, so electronic books can also be read in the bathtub and on the beach.
With the new Scribe, on the other hand, Amazon promises an "entirely new writing experience in a book". The device is designed to combine digital books with a notebook. According to Amazon, the display has a "paper-like texture" and a stylus. Together, the two should make it possible to write as if on paper. This should allow notes to be written directly on a book page, for example, with the book text then flowing around this addition. It should remain in the right place even if the font size, font style or layout is changed.

Alongside the launch of the two new readers, Amazon is also announcing revised versions of existing devices. The Kindle Paperwhite is supposed to be even faster as a result, and the display is also slightly larger. The Kids versions of the Kindle and Kindle Paperwhite have also been updated. The smallest Kindle is also available in a new color. The Kindle Colorsoft costs 290 euros and will be available from October 30, the Kindle Scribe for 420 euros from December 4. The other Kindles are available now for between 110 and 200 euros.
