AMD's new fastest gaming processor arrives in November
On November 7, AMD will launch the first 9000-series Ryzen with stack cache. Meanwhile, the previous models will become more expensive.

AMD plans to introduce a new Ryzen 9000X3D processor on November 7. The company is not naming the exact model. However, since it is about "next-gen gaming", the eight-core Ryzen 7 9800X3D is probably meant. This also fits in with the rumors that the 16-core Ryzen 9 9950X3D will not follow until early 2025.
AMD is currently not providing any details, i.e. neither clock frequencies nor the exact cache size nor the price. AMD is only sharing an image with "X3D Reimagined". Back in the summer, AMD's Senior Technical Marketing Manager Donny Woligroski promised "really, really cool innovations".
The Chinese motherboard manufacturer Maxsun recently made headlines: In a CPU compatibility list, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D is already listed with a base clock of 4.7 GHz – That would be 300 MHz more than the Ryzen 9 9900X with the highest base clock among the 9000 models to date. According to Maxsun, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D uses a new stepping (C0). Previous X3D models clock significantly lower because the additional cache chiplet makes heat dissipation more difficult.
It is clear that the announcement is intended to take the wind out of the sails of Intel's new desktop processor series Arrow Lake aka Core Ultra 200S. The gaming models Core Ultra 9 285K, Core Ultra 7 265K and Core Ultra 5 245K will be released on October 24.

Official price reductions
As a counter and presumably a reaction to the sluggish sales, AMD is also officially reducing the prices of the existing Ryzen 9000 processors. The top model Ryzen 9 9950X is to be "up to" 50 US dollars cheaper, all others up to 30 US dollars. AMD is talking about an "early vacation promotion" – however, such promotions have outlasted the immediate occasion before.
It is questionable how German retailers will react to this. Local stores are already significantly undercutting the recommended retail prices. Further large discounts are not to be expected.

Meanwhile, all older X3D processors are increasing in price. The Ryzen 7 5800X3D is no longer available at all; the Ryzen 7 5700X3D (starting from 278,72 €) for AM4 mainboards, which is also eight-core, has become 15 euros more expensive in recent weeks.
The AM5 eight-core Ryzen 7 7800X3D (starting from 349 €) approached the 300 euro mark five months ago, but now costs 45 percent more again. The Ryzen 9 7950X3D (starting from 959 €) has risen by around 15 percent.
