Tim Cook: Apple Intelligence "has changed my life"
AI will change the way we use iPhones and other devices "dramatically", according to Cook.
Apple boss Tim Cook believes that AI will bring about a fundamental change in technology: Apple Intelligence will change the way the manufacturer's computers are used "dramatically", the CEO emphasized in an interview. It is one of those "air holes that put you on a different technology curve", said Cook. The Wall Street Journal conducted the interview back in the summer, but only published it now shortly before the launch of Apple AI. Apple Intelligence will be launched at the end of October with iOS 18.1.
AI summarizes emails
Cook also readily admitted that Apple is not an AI pioneer. The company prefers to take its time and implement this in the best possible way for its customers. The Apple boss considers the email summaries created by Apple Intelligence to be particularly useful: it saves a significant amount of time over a longer period of time and has "changed his life". In the beta phase of Apple Intelligence, the summaries proved to be useful, but sometimes distorted or misrepresented content. Errors were particularly evident in the summaries of messages such as group chats or email threads.

Beta testers also reported that the Apple AI categorized spam and phishing as priority emails and can therefore give such scams a legitimate appearance.
Slow start for Apple Intelligence
Cook does not see the fact that Apple is only gradually delivering the AI functions that were widely advertised at the launch of the iPhone 16 as a major problem: "In the long term, it won't even be a footnote", he emphasized to the Wall Street Journal in September.
iOS 18.1 brings the first AI functions for text and photo editing, with image generation likely to follow by the end of the year. Fundamental changes to the Siri voice assistant system are not expected until 2025 – as well as support for other languages, including German. In the EU, Apple Intelligence will initially only be integrated in macOS, but not in iOS and iPadOS.
