c’t <webdev> conference: A web for everyone
Two days, almost 40 talks, CSS inventor HĂĄkon Wium Lie as a keynote speaker: The conference in Cologne is THE meeting point for frontend devs.
Accessibility makes the web better for everyone. But over ninety-five percent of all websites have accessibility problems. To tackle this problem, new laws will apply in the EU from 2025: accessible websites will become mandatory! In his talk during the c’t <webdev> conference Paul Hempel will take an interactive tour through the list of the most important accessibility issues using the example of publicly accessible websites. He will show practical knowledge about analysis and development tools as well as HTML and CSS to make websites accessible.
Accessibility is only one topic of the c’t <webdev>. The almost 40 talks of the two-days conference with three tracks will cover the whole bandwidth: Testing, Perfomance JavaScript (-Frameworks), Security and more. Max Marschall for example will give you a broad overview of how to seamlessly integrate generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) into your existing web applications. He will demonstrate techniques such as tool-calling and client-sided agents, providing users with new opportunities and tools within their familiar workflows.
Sebastian Springer will take you into a deep dive about how to leverage browser capabilities for digital twins. Using the concrete example of a digital twin for a building, he will examine the various ways we can present data and how developers can provide their users with the opportunity to interact. Libraries like D3.js or Three.js will be used for this purpose.
We are very hapy to have CSS Creator Håkon Wium Lie as a keynote speaker in Cologne. He will celebrate 30 years of his web standard with the attendees. On October 10, 1994, Håkon Wium Lie published the first proposal for “Cascading HTML style sheets”. Since then, CSS has been one of the technical foundations for the web. In this talk Håkon will examine some of the key moments in the history of CSS and the web - and have a short glimpse into the future of CSS. Take a look at the agenda to get a complete overview.
The c't <webdev> 2024 conference will be held from November 13 to 14 in Cologne. On the day before, November 12, there will be two full-day workshops where you can deepen your knowledge on individual topics. Sebastian Springer will show in his Workshop how to build a complete application with next.js. And Marco Emrich and Sebastian Rose will give you an overview on different „schools“ of test-driven development and which approach is best suited in which context.
A workshop ticket costs 879 Euros. Tickets for the conference cost 849 Euros, full conference passes with one additional workshop pass cost 1.649 Euros. Here are more information.
