AMD: New year, new paper presentation
Officially, notebooks with the Ryzen AI 300 CPUs are supposed to be available. However, this apparently went unnoticed by retailers.
The Vivobook S 16 OLED from Asus on display is the first notebook with AMD Ryzen AI 300 to be available in Germany.

AMD remains true to its tradition of presenting new notebook processors, which are then a long time coming. The latest case: Ryzen AI 300 aka Strix Point – combo processors with up to four Zen 5 cores, eight Zen 5c cores, an RDNA 3.5 GPU and a powerful AI unit.
Notebooks with the 12-core Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 and the 10-core Ryzen AI 9 365 should have been available since July 15. However, there is not a single immediately available model in German stores.
Asus is first with Ryzen AI 300
Asus - one of AMD's closest partners for notebooks - is still the earliest: the manufacturer plans to ship two models, the Vivobook S 16 OLED and Zenbook S 16, via its own web store by the end of July according to the current status. All others will follow in August, some in September.
According to our information, the global notebook market leader Lenovo is also aiming for September. Embarrassing for AMD: Lenovo has not even announced a single model yet, nor has Dell. Both manufacturers were also missing from AMD's presentation at the Computex IT trade fair.
Acer, HP and MSI have at least announced their first notebooks, but they will not go on sale until August and September respectively. There is currently a yawning void in the price comparison, as well as in German stores.

Meanwhile, AMD's presentation looks like an attempt to offer a lukewarm response to Qualcomm's Snapdragon X processor series and Windows on ARM. Although AMD has taken half a year longer than with the previous generations – which were announced in January for the CES trade fairs –, Ryzen AI 300 looks like a rush job.
Meanwhile, Intel's Lunar Lake aka Core Ultra 200V CPU family is due in September. This is actually intended for compact notebooks and therefore has fewer CPU cores than previous generations such as Meteor Lake: four performance and four efficiency cores.
