Bloomberg: These Macs with M4 are coming this year
The iPad Pro M4 has long since been released, but there is still no Mac with the new Apple SoC. This is expected by the end of the year.

It's an unusual situation: for the first time, Apple has introduced a new Apple Silicon SoC in the iPad, which has not been available for Macs until now. The seventh generation of the iPad Pro comes with a tablet version of the M4, which Apple is also planning for macOS computers - before these machines are on the market. But apparently it won't be long now. According to a Bloomberg report from the weekend, numerous new M4 Macs are on Apple's list this year.
All Macs finally on the same level
According to the paid newsletter of the usually well-informed Apple reporter Mark Gurman, Apple is planning to upgrade all Macs to a new processor generation this time. In addition to the already expected MacBook Pro M4 (currently M3, M3 Pro and M3 Max), this also applies to iMac (currently M3), Mac mini (currently M2 and M2 Pro), MacBook Air (currently M3), Mac Studio (currently M2 Max and M2 Ultra) and Mac Pro (currently M2 Ultra). According to Gurman, the iMac, MacBook Pro and Mac mini with M4 can be expected this fall. Apple will then bring the MacBook Air, Mac Pro and Mac Studio up to this level in 2025.
According to Gurman, Apple is also using the new SoC to promote Apple Intelligence functions. "As we saw with the new iPad Pro – the first device with the M4 chip - the processor has an improved neural engine for processing artificial intelligence tasks. It's all about making the computers more powerful [for this]." But that's not all. The Bloomberg journalist also claims to have heard that there will be "at least one Mac model" that will undergo "more drastic changes". Gurman does not reveal what these are.
Desktop Macs as they will be in 2022
Previously, Apple had not upgraded all Macs to the latest SoC - which was very frustrating for users because they felt they could not purchase the latest Apple Silicon generation. M3 Macs are currently only available in the MacBook Pro, MacBook Air and iMac series, while the popular (and most affordable) Apple desktop Mac mini and the enormously expensive Mac Pro remain with an SoC from 2022. Apple also gives its customers no indication whether a series will receive the latest SoC or not. Accordingly, there are likely to be many customers who have postponed their purchase decision for the time being.
Gurman did not specify when the new M4 machines will be released. However, October would be quite conceivable. This would allow Apple to take advantage of some of the Christmas business and not get in the way of its iPhone event. October would also be a good time for new iPads, with new mini and standard models still to come.
