Bosch presents smart crib
The technology group Bosch holds over 1,500 AI patents. At CES, it presented a smart crib that monitors vital functions and the environment.
At CES 2025, Bosch is presenting AI-supported products such as the Revol smart crib.
Robert Bosch GmbH relies on artificial intelligence (AI) to develop new products. At CES 2025, Bosch boasts 1500 AI patents in five years, submitted by more than 5000 AI experts at Bosch. This is a record for Europe and is set to continue: Bosch has trained over 65,000 associates in its "AI Academy".
AI for assisted and automated driving
Product development plays a major role for assisted and automated driving, among other things, said Bosch board of management member Tanja RĂĽckert. Image processing algorithms with classic processes and artificial intelligence methods should enable a complete understanding of the scene.
Generative AI should also improve automated driving functions. For example, artificial intelligence can react better when the context changes, such as when there is snow or ice on the road.
According to Bosch, micro-electromechanical sensors (MEMS) the size of a grain of sand play a major role in everyday life, for example in smartphones, e-bikes, fitness trackers and cars. They record data such as acceleration, rotation or temperature, wake up a smartphone or activate voice assistants.

Smart crib
One rather curious result of these developments is the Revol smart crib. Sensors, cameras, microphones in an extendable arm and a multimodal AI agent support parents in caring for their newborn.
The crib can monitor the baby 24 hours a day. The artificial intelligence monitors vital data such as heart and respiratory rate and analyzes sleep. It not only recognizes when the baby is crying, for example, but also when a soft toy or blanket is covering the child's airways. Sensors also determine temperature, humidity and air quality.

If the newborn baby has difficulty falling asleep, the crib can automatically rock it to sleep, according to the manufacturer. It also records special moments and tracks growth. Optionally, it stores the recorded data in encrypted form on Bosch servers.
Prices and availability
Bosch is initially launching its Revol crib in China. The market launch in the USA is set to follow in 2026. The smart bed will cost 1,200 US dollars. It is not yet clear whether the smart crib will also be available in Germany.
