E Ink presents first foldable e-reader
An e-reader that folds up like a book: E Ink and Readmoo have now demonstrated this at the Touch Taiwan trade fair.

The company E Ink has presented what is probably the world's first foldable e-reader: Developed in collaboration with Readmoo, the Mooink V can be folded up, as is familiar from folding cell phones from Samsung, for example. The full-length e-ink display is the color E Ink Gallery 3.
In a short demo video, E Ink shows how the Mooink V works. It is noticeable that the software apparently still treats the foldable display like a traditional display. In other words, instead of displaying a page on the left and right as with a real book, only a single page can be seen on the entire screen in the video. It is not known whether this display is a setting option.
Ready for the market yet?
There is very little information about the Mooink V so far. The device was unveiled at the Touch Taiwan trade fair, and so far, only a few scattered social media posts can be found online. In a LinkedIn entry, E-Ink CEO Johnson Lee talks about a “consumer product” that will actually be launched on the market. But when, where and under what conditions is completely open.
In the demo video published on X, E Ink states that the Mooink V should weigh a total of 255 grams – which is not much more than a conventional Kindle weighing around 200 grams. The display is 8 inches in size and uses E Ink Gallery 3 technology, which has been used in some color e-readers for several years. According to the demo video, it has been tested for 200,000 folds.

Mooink primarily operates an e-book store in Taiwan. The company has already built e-readers, but they have not been launched on the German market. E Ink develops displays, but does not generally build its own devices. Instead, the company licenses its e-paper displays to independent manufacturers. There is therefore no reason why the display developed for the foldable e-book should not also appear in the e-readers of providers who bring their devices onto the market in Germany.
