More accessories from Apple subsidiary Beats: this time cables
Apple uses the brand reach of its audio subsidiary to sell high-margin accessories: After iPhone cases, USB-C cables are now following.

It is well known that USB cables are a dime a dozen – and the same applies to iPhone cases. Nevertheless, the Apple subsidiary Beats has been selling the latter since September and is now also adding matching cables. This is according to listings from various online retailers discovered by Macrumors.
Simple technology, but durable
According to the information, there will be at least three black Beats cables that cover most charging applications. They are all 1.5 meters long and, thanks to their woven sheathing, are "tangle-free", i.e. difficult to knot. The range therefore includes a USB-C-to-USB-C version, a USB-C-to-USB-A cable and a USB-C-to-Lightning cable, although Apple has now completely replaced its proprietary interface with USB-C.
Beats advertises the cables as "tested over thousands of hours" and specially reinforced to prevent chafing. The cables are black as standard and feature a white Beats logo on the plugs. The technical design of the cables is very simple: They manage a maximum of 60 watts of charging power and USB 2.0 speed, if you use them for data (up to 480 Mbps). In addition to black, which Beats calls "Bolt Black", beige and red tones ("Surge Stone", "Rapid Red") are also planned. Allegedly, there will even be packs of two. The price per unit is likely to be around 20 euros.
More sales for the accessories division
Apple appears to be trying to further expand its high-margin accessories business with the new strips. This has already been tried with the Beats iPhone cases, which are available for all four iPhone 16 models. The polycarbonate cases are sold for 59 euros each. Apple always places Beats slightly below the price of products under its brand. However, this is not always the case with accessories. For an iPhone 16 Pro Max case made of silicone, you also pay 59 euros at Apple.
Apple acquired Beats in 2014 and paid the highest amount ever for a takeover of the company. In addition to the hardware –, especially headphones –, the provider's streaming technology was also acquired. It was incorporated into Apple Music. Beats alone is now said to generate a billion US dollars in revenue per year, probably more.
