Music videos on Spotify are available to customers in an additional 85 countries, including Austria and Switzerland. German listeners have been able to watch music videos since March. At the moment, videos are not yet being added to all possible music tracks, but are being added bit by bit.

Songs that currently have an attached video are provided with a special icon by the service. It looks like a small play button and is located in the list view in the same place as the "E", which indicates "explicit", i.e. adult content. In landscape format, the video plays in full-screen mode.

If you don't want to overuse your mobile data on the go, you can switch off the music video with a click directly below the video display and switch back to the view with a static cover image. Spotify also offers gradations for audio and video quality in the personal settings to reduce data consumption.

In contrast to Spotify Jam, which allows users to listen to music together, this new feature is not specific to Spotify. The music service is primarily closing a gap to providers such as YouTube Music and Apple Music, which already display music videos.
