Netflix appears in Apple's TV app for the first time in the USA
Various subscription services can be integrated into an overview in Apple's TV app. Netflix is not yet one of them. This could change soon.

Netflix is apparently reconsidering its refusal to appear in Apple's central TV app on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV. The streaming service has now been observed in the USA obtaining permission from some users to connect their Netflix access to the Apple TV app. According to reports, some series are already appearing in the overview. Whether and when this will also come to Europe is still uncertain.
With the introduction of the new TV app in 2016, Apple created the option of combining video sources from various subscription services in the app and displaying suitable content. Later, in 2019, the "Apple TV Channels" followed with iOS 12.3 and tvOS 12.3. Apple thus introduced a two-pronged strategy. Apple itself is also active as a streaming service provider with Apple TV+ – Apple launched its first native TV app for Android just a few days ago. As a second pillar, the TV app bundles offers from other services in the channels in a common overview, which can be booked via Apple's payment system.
Not the best relationship with Apple
Netflix, however, has so far refused to allow itself to be taken over – either by Apple in the TV app or by Google. Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings explained in 2018 that he would rather have customers in his Netflix app. What also did not help strengthen the relationship between Netflix and Apple was Netflix's move to suddenly stop offering in-app subscriptions and instead encourage customers to subscribe via the website to avoid Apple's fees.

The current tests in public indicate a turnaround. Several Apple TV 4K owners in the USA were able to connect their Netflix access to the TV app and were given Netflix series such as "Squid Game" and "Stranger Things" to choose from in the watchlist. However, according to The Verge, the full Netflix offering is not yet available. Netflix is also already listed by Apple as a participating service within the TV app for selected users.
