Outages at ChatGPT
ChatGPT is unstable for the second day in a row. Once the problem has been fixed, users will also have to take action.

ChatGPT, the chatbot from OpenAI, was down again on Tuesday. There was already an outage on Monday. OpenAI speaks of a "major outage" that affected all users, regardless of the subscription used. However, users of the automated programming interface (API) were spared. The problems were resolved at 19:01 CEST.
The editorial team at heise online cannot confirm this. At the time, ChatGPT responded with, "We're experiencing exceptionally high demand. Please try again later." Meanwhile, the provider recommends a hard refresh for users who use ChatGPT via a web browser. For browsers on Windows and Linux desktops, this is usually done by pressing the key combination Ctrl + F5. On macOS desktops, a third key is added: Ctrl + Caps Lock + R for Firefox, Chrome or Chromium, Ctrl + Option + R for Safari. For web browsers on Android and iOS, OpenAI recommends clearing the browser cache.
Then it should work again with ChatGPT. The company does not specify the reason for the major outage. According to the company, the disruptions on Monday (California local time) were less extensive. In the morning there were high latencies, in the afternoon, chatbot sessions with images on mobile devices did not work properly. OpenAI did not give a reason for these disruptions, either. According to the data, ChatGPT was available 99.41 percent of the time in the last 90 days, the API 99.93 percent (uptime at the time of going to press).
Desktop program for macOS
OpenAI recently launched a downloadable program for macOS systems in addition to the chat in the browser. However, this is reserved for subscribers who pay 20 US dollars per month.
The c't test of the desktop version of ChatGPT showed that this version can be called up at any time using a keyboard shortcut. As simple as this principle may seem, it is very convincing in practice: with this way of working, there is no co-pilot to get in the way without being asked. Instead, ChatGPT is available in the background, only appears on command – and then disappears again.
