Signs are growing that Samsung will have to postpone the launch of the Galaxy S25 Edge, originally planned for mid-April. There are speculations as to why.

There was already a noticeable bubbling in the rumor mill yesterday, now reports from Korea seem to confirm it: Samsung apparently has to postpone the launch of the extra-slim Galaxy S25 Edge, which was actually already planned for this month.

Instead of mid-April, the Galaxy S25 Edge will now only be officially unveiled in May or June, according to a report by Korean ETNews and Sammobile. There is varying information about the reasons for the postponement. ETNews writes that the launch is probably due to the sudden death of the Samsung CEO and its consequences in the management of the Korean company. According to the newspaper, quality problems are not the reason.

However, there are reports from other sources that there are issues with the battery in the particularly flat smartphone. The battery issue has been a particular focus at Samsung since the disaster surrounding the fire-prone Galaxy Note 7 in 2016.

The reason for the postponement may also lie in the fact that the Galaxy S25 Edge will probably only be unveiled as part of an online presentation instead of at a grand unpacked event as is usual for the high-end series. The pricing is not expected to be affected by the new date. Prices of over 1200 euros are expected for the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge in Germany.

Just look, don't touch

Samsung presented the Galaxy S25 Edge to the masses for the first time at MWC 2025 in Barcelona, where the smartphone, which is less than six millimetres thin, was artfully presented at the trade fair stand. However, even the trade press was not allowed to touch and try out the device. The technical details of the Edge are also not yet fully known. The screen measures 6.7 inches and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite, which also powers the other models in the S25 series, should provide more than enough power. The Galaxy S25 Edge only has two cameras on the back, the main camera is flanked by an ultra-wide angle. There was no room for a telephoto lens in the housing, and certainly not for a horizontally mounted periscope telephoto lens.
