Volkswagen describes the VW ID.3 Pure, which is now available to order, as the "ideal entry-level model". It is intended to round off the lower end of the electric car range, as it is said. It does this, at least to some extent, because it is offered with a slightly reduced battery energy content of 52 kW and reduced charging power. It is currently slightly less expensive than the other ID.3 models thanks to a special offer called the "Volkswagen Environmental Premium", which is not yet limited in time. This means that the model costs 33,330 instead of 36,900 euros.
The new offer also includes the VW ID.3 GTX with 210 kW and a revised edition of the VW ID.3 Pro. Volkswagen is equipping all three models with a new generation of software and infotainment, which are advertised with their 12.9-inch display and an improved operating concept including voice assistant and the integration of artificial intelligence through ChatGPT.

With preconditioning, but reduced capacity
New features include an enhanced augmented reality head-up display, a revised wellness app and a "premium sound system" from Harman Kardon. The model series are essentially characterized by different energy contents: The VW ID.3 GTX offers 79 kWh, while the VW ID.3 Pro can be ordered with up to 59 kWh. The VW ID.3 Pure has the smallest battery at 52 kWh. All three batteries already offer preconditioning since the model update, which is intended to enable faster and gentler charging.
With its 52 kWh, the 125 kW VW ID.3 Pure has a combined range of up to 388 km in the WLTP. Naturally, the shortest possible charging time is a good thing. However, Volkswagen has capped the maximum charging capacity of the new entry-level model at 170 to 145 kW and even reduced the AC charging capacity from 11 to 7.4 kW.
