Vision Pro: Apple is reportedly preparing new distribution channels for headset
So far, the Vision Pro has only been sold in the Apple Store or the company's online store. This could change. There are further rumors in the gaming sector.

Apple could announce an expansion of its distribution strategy for the Vision Pro on Friday. At least that's what the Apple blog 9to5Mac and the developer and author @aaronp613, who specializes in code leaks, are speculating on X. Apple currently only has very limited sales for its augmented and virtual reality headset: the hardware, which costs at least 4,000 euros, is only available in Apple's retail stores and for online ordering on Apple.com. This also means that the prices for the Vision Pro have not changed so far: Apple is stubbornly charging its recommended retail price.
Tool helps third-party providers to sell the Vision Pro
According to the reports, Apple has now made initial preparations to offer its headset in electronics chains and other resellers. According to @aaronp613, there is now a new app called “Apple Vision Pro Demo Fit” that has been released hidden in the App Store. It allows you to perform the important Vision Pro sales demos, including fitting the headset with the correct light seal, cushion and matching optical inserts lenses. The app is designed in such a way that the tool can apparently also be used by non-Apple employees.
@aaronp613 raises the question whether this could be a way to enable “3rd parties” to sell the devices. 9to5Mac, on the other hand, believes that this could be a new way to push previously unsold headsets onto the market. There had previously been reports that production of the devices had initially been halted. The Vision Pro has been on sale in Germany since last summer.
Date leaked on Friday
In line with the reports, Apple has apparently sent an invitation to selected members of the press for tomorrow, Friday, stating that there will be an “announcement” relating to the Vision Pro. This was reported by Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman. Another possibility is that Apple wants to announce support for a first VR gaming controller for the Vision Pro.
A collaboration with Sony is rumored to be in the works. Support for the Japanese company's VR controller is said to have been planned by Apple for months. Regular Bluetooth controllers can already be connected to the Vision Pro and used in conjunction with Nvidia's cloud gaming service, for example.
