The Y-Brush electric toothbrush cleans all teeth at the same time. This saves time. It is available with a handpiece or as a head for the Philips Sonicare.

It's the old story: people don't brush their teeth properly. Studies show that the majority do not adhere to the recommended brushing time, which is three minutes with a manual toothbrush and two minutes with an electric one. Y-Brush aims to achieve the same result in 20 seconds: ten seconds on the top and ten for the bottom – done.

The brush heads of the Y-Brush look like a bite splint: they cover the entire set of teeth and brush them all at once. This means you can finish brushing your teeth in no time at all and don't have to worry about whether one side hasn't been brushed thoroughly enough.

First you have to position the brush a little until the teeth have found their place. When brushing, you bite down on the tray with light chewing movements and move it from left to right. It hums at a high frequency like a sonic toothbrush. According to the manufacturer, a clinical study with 100 patients over 30 days showed that the Y-Brush brushes twice as efficiently as a conventional electric toothbrush.

The manufacturer is presenting two new models at CES 2025. The more comprehensive and more expensive Y-Brush Ultra is said to last a full six months on a single charge. It offers six brushing modes including tooth whitening. Its black, elongated handpiece is reminiscent of classic electric toothbrushes such as those from Oral-B and Philips. It can also be used with conventional brush heads.

The Y-Brush Essential lasts three months on a single charge and only offers two brushing modes. The brush head is mounted on a trapezoidal handpiece, which is more reminiscent of a bar of soap compared to its Ultra sister. However, the shape makes perfect sense – after all, you don't have to move the brush, just keep it in your mouth.

The Y-Brush Essential looks like a paperweight. As you hardly have to move it in your mouth, it doesn't need a long handle.

The Y-shaped brush head with "Clean240 technology" cleans using 35,000 nylon bristles via sonic vibration. It is available for the Essential and Ultra Y-Brush models in sizes M (from 13 years) and S (4 to 12 years).

The manufacturer also offers a variant for toothbrushes in the Philips Sonicare range, but only in size M for adults. The manufacturer also sells traditional brush heads for the Y-Brush Ultra handpiece.

Both Y-Brush models will be available from Amazon in March. The Y-Brush Ultra costs 129.99 euros. The Y-Brush Essential will cost 84.99 euros. Traditional brush heads cost 14.99 euros in a pack of three, the Y-shaped Clean240 brush head 34.90 euros.
