In addition to iOS 18, macOS 15 and the like, Apple has also provided its earlier operating systems with updates. The main focus is on security improvements.

The round of updates continues: In addition to the major new versions of Apple's operating systems that were published yesterday evening, Apple has now also released bug fix updates for the old systems. Some of these go back several major versions and should be installed quickly as they contain important security improvements. Feature updates are not included, at least Apple does not mention them.
Sonoma and Ventura
In addition to macOS 15, macOS Sonoma 14.7 and macOS Ventura 13.7 have also been released. These each stop several dozen existing vulnerabilities that could be used, among other things, to create an environment of restrictions, read sensitive information, crash apps or change content in the file system.

Numerous areas are affected, from the kernel to compression, Automator and sudo. As is unfortunately usual with Apple, only the very latest macOS – in this case macOS 15 alias Sequoia – really contains all bug fixes. To close gaps in the WebKit browser engine, Safari 18 has been released for the old macOS versions, which can also be downloaded individually. The earlier macOS version 12 alias Monterey will no longer receive updates – Users who are still using it should consider at least upgrading to Ventura in order to receive at least the most important security fixes.
Mobile devices updated
Updates are still available for iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 – for all those who do not yet want to update to iOS 18 or iPadOS 18 so quickly. These have both reached version 17.7. Apple lists a total of 16 fixed vulnerabilities –, which are also fewer than in iOS 18 and iPadOS 18. The problems listed include denial-of-service attacks, crashes that can be caused, leaked traffic from VPN tunnels, privacy leaks (including contact data) and authentication problems including unwanted access to the local network.
Apple has not yet updated watchOS 10 and tvOS 17; these are to be updated to watchOS 11 and tvOS 18 in order to receive security fixes. Xcode and visionOS must also be updated to the latest versions 16 and 2.0 respectively in order to receive all security-relevant updates.
