iPhone 16: Pro models have never been as equal as they are today
Until now, Apple has differentiated between the two Pro sizes. This is less the case with the 16s than before.

Which Pro should it be? This year, the choice was more difficult than it has been for a long time because Apple no longer makes (almost) any technical distinctions. Features that were previously reserved for the Pro Max model are now also included in the standard Pro smartphone with the iPhone 16. But two key differences remain.
Screen and battery
One is visible from the outside and the other requires the device to be opened. The iPhone 16 Pro comes with a 6.3-inch display and the iPhone 16 Pro Max with a 6.9-inch display. Both have grown further (from 6.1 and 6.7 inches on the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max) and have a slightly thinner screen edge. So if you want (almost) 7 inches in an Apple smartphone, go for the iPhone 16 Pro Max; if 6.3 inches is enough, take the more compact iPhone 16 Pro.
Internal difference number two: the integrated battery. Apple has not yet provided any information on the number of watt-hours, but states in its technical data that the Pro model offers a maximum of 27 hours of video playback (offline) and the Pro Max up to 33 hours. Streamed hours are 22 and 29 hours respectively. Pure audio playback is a maximum of 85 (Pro) and 105 (Pro Max) hours. Apple records these values itself, so they should be treated with caution – but they do give a good impression of the differences. The battery in the iPhone 16 Pro Max is probably the largest that Apple has ever installed in a smartphone.
In direct comparison: price difference of 120 euros
As already mentioned, there are no differences in all other features. Both devices run on the A18 Pro SoC. Even the camera configuration – has always been a distinguishing feature between the Pro and Pro Max – is the same: both devices now have a 5x optical zoom using the tetraprism method, whereas the Pro only had a 3x zoom in the 15 series. Rumors that the 16 Pro Max could have more zoom have not been substantiated. The other camera specs with 48 MP "Fusion" camera, 12 MP telephoto and 48 MP ultra-wide angle are also the same. There is a slight difference in the memory configuration: the Pro is available from 128 GB, the Pro Max from 256 GB. Both devices can be expanded to a maximum of 1 TByte, the 2 TByte hopes were disappointed.
Finally, there is the weighty argument of the price. The iPhone 16 Pro is available from 1199 euros, the iPhone 16 Pro Max from 1449 euros. With the same memory, however, the difference is smaller: the iPhone 16 Pro with 256 GB costs 1329 euros. The full versions with 1 TByte are priced at 1829 and 1949 euros – fortunately again at less than 2000 euros. The new iPhones can be pre-ordered from Apple from next Friday and will be available in stores from September 20.
