iPhone and iPad rumors: iPhone SE 4 and iPad Air 7 with unexpected features
A well-known Apple rumor cook has gathered new information about the iPhone SE 4 and the next iPad Air. They contradict previous findings.

Waiting for the first new Apple products of the year: it currently looks like the fourth-generation iPhone SE and new iPads – presumably the standard version 11 and iPad Air 7 – could be on the way. Now a well-known X leaker has followed up with new information that seems rather counterintuitive at first glance. One claim seems overly optimistic, the other more negative than previously thought.
Surprises with the iPhone SE 4
Evan Bass writes in a post to members that he has received designs of the new iPhone SE 4. These speak for the aforementioned naming (i.e., “iPhone SE (4th Gen)”) and not for the “iPhone 16E” that has been rumoredmeanwhilee. The back shows a single camera (probably 48 megapixels) plus a microphone, flash, and the Apple logo. The front is the big surprise: according to Bass' leak, it has a Dynamic Island instead of a notch.

This in turn would be unusual because the rumor mill previously assumed that the iPhone SE 4 was based on the iPhone 14 in the standard version – and that this did not yet have a Dynamic Island. Apple only offered this from the Pro models of the iPhone 14 onwards. If Apple were to give the new SE a Dynamic Island, it would be even more future-proof than a variant with a notch. Internally, this is the case anyway: Apple will probably install an A18 from the iPhone 16, including 8 GB for Apple Intelligence. There is also an Apple-created 5G chip with iitsWi-Fi/Bluetooth unit.
iPad Air less equipped than hoped for
Bass also has details on the iPad Air with M-SoC, which is now in its seventh generation. In the same post to members, he writes that Apple will soon be showing two models of the Air (11 and 13 inches) plus an iPad 11. In a code leak that he continues to share, the new Air is referred to as “iPad Air 11 (M3)” as well as “iPad Air 13 (M3)”.
This in turn would mean that Apple is unfortunately not immediately jumping to generation M4 with the Air – probably also so that Apple can further differentiate it from the iPad Pro. However, Bass does not reveal which chip the iPad 11 will get. The latest speculation is based on the A17 Pro from the iPhone 15 Pro, including the 8 GB RAM required for Apple Intelligence.
