visionOS 2.4: A look at the details
Apple is slowly but steadily improving its expensive headset through software. This also applies to the latest visionOS version. An overview.

In addition to iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4, macOS 15.4, tvOS 18.4 and now also watchOS 11.4, Apple also released a major update for visionOS, the operating system for its Vision Pro augmented and virtual reality headset, this week. Despite the minor version number increase to 2.4, the update provides some interesting new functions. Various security gaps have also been closed.
Apple Intelligence on the head – with restrictions
For the first time, Apple has brought its in-house AI system Apple Intelligence to the system. There had long been speculation whether the company still had plans to do this, as the built-in M2 processor is already under considerable strain for spatial computing, such as eye and hand tracking and spatial recognition. But as it turns out, Apple Intelligence can certainly run on the Vision Pro. The functions include writing tools that can be used to rewrite, improve and summarize texts, image generators (which, however, do not work photorealistically) including genmojis and the “Image Wand” function, the creation of picture shows and videos from the media library using text prompts, the prioritization of messages as well as summaries and “smart replies” in Mail and the Messages app.
Confusingly, however, Apple has only released the function in English. While iOS 18.4, macOS 15.4 and the like finally support German, Spanish, French and various other languages, Vision Pro remains monolingual. Apple has not yet explained why this is the case.
iPhone app with content and better guest setup
With the new “Spatial Gallery” application, Apple is now combining content prepared for the Vision Pro in one application. It contains Spatial photos, Spatial videos and panoramas, which Apple regularly updates with new content. The so-called guest mode, which allows you to hand over Vision Pro to other users, has also been improved. A new session can now be started on a nearby iPhone or iPad, and users can also be “guided” from outside. Eye and hand tracking data is retained for 30 days.
Finally, iOS 18.4 comes with a new Apple Vision Pro app that allows users to preview content and install apps in advance, which then land on the headset when it is switched on. In terms of improvements and bug fixes, Apple has added the ability to edit words by dictation (replace and delete) and to activate travel mode if there is an error message – via the digital crown. Apple lists a list of the security vulnerabilities fixed in visionOS 2.4 on its website –. There are several dozen, some of which are serious.
