Parallels Desktop allows use of Apple Intelligence under Windows
Alludo has added a new function to its virtualization solution: Under macOS 15.1, you can now also use Apple's AI functions for Windows.
Windows plus Apple Intelligence.
The Apple Intelligence features introduced with macOS 15.1 are now also available on Windows on request. However, this still requires a Mac. Alludo, formerly Coral, manufacturer of the virtualization solution Parallels Desktop, has adapted its software accordingly with the update to version 20.1.0. This makes it possible to use the Writing Tools in Windows apps such as Word, PowerPoint and others.
Update everything first
In addition to the fact that Parallels Desktop requires the correct version, the latest Sequoia update must be running on the Mac, as mentioned above. Apple Intelligence must be activated there, but this only works if the system language is US English. Parallels Desktop supports the ARM versions of Windows 10, Windows 11 and Windows Server 2025 (as soon as available), among others. Alludo has formulated how to proceed in instructions on its website.

The latest version of Parallels Tools must be installed on Windows in order to use the function. After a quick check to see if the Writing Tools are available on macOS, you can then use them on Windows. This can be done either via the menu bar under "Edit" and "Writing Tools" or using the shortcut (Shift+Command+W). The writing tools then appear as a pop-up.
What the Writing Tools can do
Currently, you can have English texts proofread or rewrite them in various ways – including in the tones "friendly", "professional" or "concise". The writing tools can also create (more or less successful) summaries, pick out key points or create lists and even tables from texts. For the function to work, the Windows VM must not be isolated from macOS, which some administrators recommend for security reasons.
It can be assumed that Alludo will also make other Apple intelligence functions available for Windows via Parallels Desktop. In the future, Apple is planning its own image generators, among other things. The "Clean Up" function for removing parts of images is currently only available in the Photos app. Apple Intelligence is also due to be launched in the EU in April – and will be available in German. Parallels Desktop costs from 8.33 euros per month with a subscription and can also run Linux and macOS VMs.
