New sustainability: That's apparently it with the Apple stickers
For decades, it has been a tradition to give customers stickers with the purchase of its hardware, which is by no means cheap. This is now coming to an end.

The packaging contents of Apple products have been shrinking for years. When you bought an iPhone, for example, it not only came with the actual smartphone, but also wired headphones (EarPods), a Lightning to mini jack adapter and a power adapter. A two-pack of Apple stickers – was also supplied as standard, a tradition that the company has maintained for decades and which users have always liked. Now that the iPhone and, more recently , the iPads are no longer supplied with power adapters and only USB-C cables, the stickers are also being phased out – on the Mac, where they were previously supplied as standard.
A small symbol
They were already missing from the iPhone 16, and now it's the turn of the iMac M4, Mac mini M4 (including M4 Pro) and MacBook Pro M4 (including M4 Pro and M4 Max). Apple's move in this direction had already been hinted at with the 4000 euro Vision Pro, which was delivered without a sticker despite its price. This annoyed users on X and elsewhere, as the stickers were a nice goodie –, even if only to mark an external hard disk. Apple had also always made sure to match the respective color: only professional Macs were once given the coveted black version of the stickers.

The reason for the end of Apple stickers in the packaging is Apple's desire to be more sustainable. The stickers not only contained paper components, but also plastic, which could end up in the environment. At least that is the official explanation. It is also clear that Apple also saves a small amount of money (which is likely to be very high due to the quantities).
MacBook Air M4 still lonely with sticker
At least there is still a way to get hold of the stickers: You can go to an Apple store – should there be one nearby – and ask the salesperson to hand over a set. However, these are sometimes "sold out". The only current Apple device that still comes with the stickers seems to be the MacBook Air M3. This is likely to change with the release of the new version with M4 SoC – expected for spring –.
Apple recently reduced the price of its iPad 10 from 429 to 399 euros, but at the same time omitted the (very useful) 20-watt USB-C power adapter. As this had a value of 25 euros (Apple retail price), the savings ultimately amounted to just 5 euros.
