Tried out: New Milanaise bracelet for the Apple Watch Ultra in titanium
The steel Milanese versions of the Apple Watch have always been among the most popular bracelets with a "dressy" look.

Apple brings out new wristbands for the Apple Watch every year. Thanks to a very easy-to-use interchangeable system, this ensures that many users buy new ones – There are now even regularly updated "collections" in different colors, as if the iPhone company were a fashion house. This fall, a new version of the Milanaise bracelet was launched. In the classic sense, this is a finely woven metal mesh that comes with a magnetic clasp at best.
Milanaise Loop 2.0
This is exactly how Apple used to do it. The practical thing about it was that the length of this Milanaise loop was extremely adjustable – Select length, attach magnet, done. The "loop" is missing from the description of the new Milanaise bracelet that has now been released: instead, there is a new type of parachute-style clasp. However, the new edition can still be adjusted, albeit not quite as easily as the old one. There is a small flap that needs to be lifted to move the clasp.

The Milanaise bracelet in titanium is the lightest Milanaise to date. It is available in two colors: "natural" and "black". These are explicitly intended for the Apple Watch Ultra, with "natural" being best suited to Ultra 1 and 2, while "black" only matches the black Ultra 2 (unless you like the contrast). The available size is only 49 mm, which corresponds to the Ultra. However, it is also possible to use the strap on a large regular Apple Watch – such as the Series 10 with 46 mm. In this case, you will only notice a slight bump at the edges, which is not a problem. Nevertheless, it is best to try out the strap first, for example in an Apple store.
Good mechanics, industrial look
The material of the new Milanaise bracelet in titanium has become even more delicate. The inner structure consists of small metallic lenses that interlock. They have a sharper shape than the Milanaise Loop. This creates a rougher, almost machinelike look that is somewhat less "dressy" than the old Milanaise Loop in steel, which had a very classic appearance. Nevertheless, the new look can be worn for almost any occasion and fits in harmoniously with the robust style of the Apple Watch Ultra.

Apple has given the aforementioned parachute clasp an interesting design. A tab is pushed into an opening provided for this purpose, a bit like a car seatbelt. At first, you have to practise a bit to get it right every time you put it on. But after that it works and is even fun. The buckle is released by operating two small levers on the side, which have to be pressed down simultaneously. One alone is not enough. This ensures a bombproof fit. Visually, the buckle also has a machined look, and two rivets can also be seen. Adjustment by opening the flap is easy, but only needs to be done infrequently –, for example when changing weight or in summer when the wrist stretches.
Interesting, but expensive
All in all, the new Milanaise bracelet in titanium on the Apple Watch Ultra is fun. It is more suitable for men than women, but that is a matter of taste. The price is not a question of taste: Apple always wants to see 199 euros for the bracelet individually, although it can be purchased at the same time as a new Apple Watch Ultra 2. The price is then 999 euros, which is 100 euros more than other variants such as the Alpine Loop, Trail Loop or Ocean Band.
The manufacturing quality is typically good, even after several weeks of using the natural titanium version, we didn't notice any scratches. Otherwise, it is nice to see that Apple is continuing to work on new wristband models. Even an older Apple Watch can be upgraded, as long as you have the necessary funds. Incidentally, there are already Chinese clones of the Milanaise band in titanium on the market –, which should be avoided as users have reported that the quality is significantly poorer.
