Apple was quick this time: Following the launch of the iPhone 16 line in September, components are now also available as part of the Self-Service Repair Program.
Repairing with Apple components: Not really cheap.

Apple has launched its Self Service Repair Program (SSRP) for the iPhone 16. Having previously published the necessary repair manuals, the company is now also offering the first spare parts for sale in the Self Service Repair Store for Apple products. The necessary accessories are also available. As usual, it is important to find out in advance whether a personal repair is worthwhile or whether Apple itself might not be able to offer a better deal.
Large selection of components – but not everything available
Available components include the rear protective glass, the TrueDepth camera, the battery, the rear camera system, speakers (top and bottom), the main microphone, the display and other spare parts. You can also request a "Repair Toolkit" for rent (US price: 49 US dollars for seven days) and order officially approved tools. Spare parts are available for the iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max. The components are available both in the USA and in many EU countries.

The iPhone 16 generation was launched just under eight weeks ago. Apple promptly published the repair manuals – , such as the one for the iPhone 16 –. These go into detail about the device structure and the "permitted" actions required to rectify standard problems. The spare parts also cover most repair areas, but as usual not all of them. Repair at board level is not included.
Screen for 379 dollars, but the original
The US prices of the components are not cheap. Depending on the model, a screen costs between 279 and 379 dollars, batteries 99 to 119 dollars. Camera modules cost 169 or 249 dollars (higher value: Pro models). In addition, there is the work on the device, which should only be entrusted to more skilled hobbyists.
However, Apple has recently made improvements to individual iPhone models, which have also received praise from the repair scene. These include, for example, the easier removal of the battery from the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus by applying a voltage, although this does not apply to the Pro models.
