Apple is unlikely to launch a Vision Pro with new internals before the end of 2025 or early 2026. Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, who is usually well-informed on Apple matters, assumes this (paid newsletter). One possible reason could be that the manufacturer wants to significantly accelerate its headset – at least with an M5 SoC, which is unlikely to appear in the first machines before fall 2025.
Device was already outdated when it came onto the market
Apple installed the M2 in the first Vision Pro, which was released in the US in spring 2024 and then came to Europe in the summer. This SoC was already outdated at the time of release, as its successor, the M3, had already been launched in fall 2023. A direct upgrade to the M5, which according to Gurman is the "minimum generation" for the new Vision Pro, would keep the headset fresh for longer. As the Vision Pro is always the high-end version, this would certainly please buyers.

However, the upcoming M6 chip will also be on the agenda right away – from probably fall 2026 –. The design of the Vision Pro 2 is said to change little to nothing. "The big changes are internal, including the processor upgrade." However, Gurman is still not sure whether a Vision Pro 2 will actually appear, so Apple's plans could still change.
Waiting for a cheaper model
Apple is pursuing a special strategy with its computer glasses. At just under 4000 euros, the entry-level model is a luxury product that costs more than ten times as much as the Quest 3S, for example. In return, the Vision Pro offers significantly better screens and completely controller-free operation via hand and eye tracking. In order to broaden the market, a more affordable model would have to be produced, which would allegedly just be called "Vision".
But even this is likely to be higher than the prices of Meta & Co. who sell their devices –, as Mark Zuckerberg himself admits – at a loss or no profit. Prices of 1500 euros are currently considered realistic for the "Vision". It is unclear whether this will be released next year. It is said to lack various features of the Vision Pro, such as the front EyeSight screens. The resolution is also said to be lower.
