The number of people in Germany who make medical appointments online has increased over the years. One in two people have already booked a doctor's appointment online at least once. This is the result of a representative survey conducted by the digital association Bitkom. In previous years, the figures were significantly lower at around a third of online bookers.
According to Bitkom, the survey results show that bookings via appointment platforms such as Clickdoc, Doctolib or Jameda are the most popular among respondents. 39% of respondents stated that they had already used these services. In addition, 33 percent of those surveyed by Bitkom stated that they had used the practice's website or an online form to make an appointment; emails were also mentioned for this purpose.
Almost half of those who already book appointments online (48%) do so "always or frequently", 29% "occasionally" and 21% "at least rarely". 73% of those who already book appointments online no longer want to do without online appointments. Most (88 percent) of those surveyed agree that practices are often difficult to reach by telephone. 75 percent believe that all practices and medical facilities should offer online appointments.

Although 26 percent of respondents had no experience with online appointments, they could imagine using this option in the future, according to the survey results.
