Gamer-Linux: Nobara 41 with current base and small improvements
Just in time for the new year, there is a new version of the gamer and content creator Linux Nobara. It brings many small improvements.

Version 41 of the Linux distribution Nobara, which is aimed in particular at gamers and content creators, has been released just in time for the new year. The new version brings many minor improvements and brings the basis up to date.
In the changelog, the developers discuss the numerous small corrections and functional improvements in Nobara 41, the most important of which is the update of the base to the level of Fedora 41, which was released last November. In addition to the updates inherited from this, the Nobara developers have also touched various packages of their own.
Many small optimizations
The Calamares installer is now based on the fork of KaOS-Linux so that it can offer more options and an on-screen keyboard, for example. Mesa previously included the current Vulkan version from git, which apparently caused some games not to run in rare cases. Nobara now installs the stable Vulkan drivers from Mesa by default, but anyone who wants to can switch to “mesa-vulkan-drivers-git” in the driver manager.

In addition, the open Nvidia driver is now used by default. For older GPUs that are only supported by the closed-source driver, the new wiki provides instructions on how to make the necessary manual adjustments. The aforementioned driver manager now offers the packages supplied by Fedora instead of the official AMD ROCm packages. On Asus systems, there is now also “asusctl”. The Nobara updater disables the grub timeout on systems with HTPC packages (home theater PCs) to provide a more pleasant user experience on HTPCs and handhelds. If it finds AMD ROCm packages, it switches them to the Fedora versions.
A new tool is now also on board, the Nobara tweak tool. It can automatically mount partitions with a click of the mouse. It can also control automatic updates on HTPCs and handhelds – which are now active by default from installation on these devices. Furthermore, it can also manage the input controller packages. The changelog lists the individual changes to other components in even more detail.
