Powerbeats Pro 2 approaching: with new health function?
The Apple subsidiary Beats is apparently getting new technology before its parent company. The Powerbeats Pro 2 earbuds are set to be released very soon.

It has been known for months that Beats is planning a second generation of its Powerbeats Pro. Leakers were the Apple subsidiary itself – and its mother: Beats had posted a short X video in which a sports star wears the as yet unreleased earbuds, while Apple had already integrated images of the devices in the iOS 18 code. Now it doesn't seem to be long until the release.
Leaks, leaks and more leaks
As Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman writes in his latest newsletter, they are “due very soon”. Product briefings with the media are therefore planned for the coming week. Data on the devices had already surfaced in regulatory databases in December, including the US communications regulator FCC. There will be at least four colors, at least according to the iOS 18 images. They show variants in gray, black, purple and orange (tangerine).

The design has become somewhat more compact than its predecessors, but the stem of the earplugs is still slightly thicker. The typical hook for the outer ear remains so that the devices, which are designed for sports, do not fall to the ground during physical activities. As usual, Apple is likely to include a charging case. However, it is still unclear what this will look like. Internally, it is hoped that Apple will include Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), which the Powerbeats Pro lacked. Then there should also be a transparency mode that can be switched on. Spatial audio is also rumored to be coming.
Audio combined with health for the first time
Apple had already withdrawn the predecessor models of the Powerbeats Pro 2 from the market in the fall. Since then, people have been waiting for the successor. Apple already has sports earbuds in its range, the Beats Fit Pro, which feature ANC. However, these are likely to fall out of your ears more easily during intense activity than the new Powerbeats Pro 2.
An interesting new feature is likely to be exclusive to the new devices for now: The Powerbeats Pro 2 are reportedly the first Apple or Beats devices in the audio sector to include health tracking. To this end, the earbuds will have sensors that record the heart rate. This should then be forwarded to the Apple Health app. It remains unclear whether the measurement is permanent, as is the case with the Apple Watch. It is also expected to have a longer battery life and a “Find my” function that is also compatible with Google's “Find My Device”.
