The space game “No Man's Sky” is growing and thriving: Developer Hello Games has now announced the update “Worlds Part 2”, which builds on “Worlds Part 1” released last summer. The new update brings graphics improvements, billions of new solar systems and new terrain types to the game.
Studio boss Sean Murray gives an overview of the new features in a detailed gameplay video. Long-time “No Man's Sky” veterans will be pleased to see the new gas giants, which are ten times larger than previous planets and which Murray describes as a late-game activity. Underwater worlds can now also be several kilometers deep.

Billions of new solar systems
“Across the universe, we're adding billions of new solar systems and trillions of new planets and introducing new biomes and terrains without changing what people already love about the game,” Murray says in the video. “This goes far beyond what, we thought, was possible when we started.”

Hello Games is porting the graphics improvements in particular, including a new lighting system, from its new game “Light no Fire” back to “No Man's Sky”. The studio is continuing to develop the engine for its upcoming survival game and is also making the new features available in “No Man's Sky”. Other content has been developed specifically for “No Man's Sky”. For example, Murray promises new creatures that can be encountered on the planets and in the oceans. New quests and an expedition will also be added.
“No Man's Sky” is now in its ninth year after release. Hello Games has not yet revealed whether and how it will continue after “Worlds Part 2”. “No Man's Sky: Worlds Part 2” can be downloaded for free on all platforms.
