From February 6, Tinder users will be able to access the Wahl-O-Mat for the 2025 federal election via the dating app. By swiping to the left, the ad can be ignored; by swiping to the right, the digital election advice can be accessed. The operators state that the service is intended to help people “find out about political positions and opportunities”.
According to Tinder, a study conducted in this context shows: “It is becoming clear that voting preference is increasingly becoming a central factor in the choice of partner for young singles.” According to the study, 30 percent of respondents would rather not date someone who does not vote, and 13 percent have already ended a relationship due to political differences. Furthermore, 65 percent of survey participants want to go to the polls, while 14 percent are not yet sure.
The survey was conducted by Tinder itself for this advertising partnership. A total of 1001 singles between the ages of 18 and 25 were surveyed online.

The cooperation is based on a partnership with the Federal Agency for Civic Education. The latter has been providing the Wahl-O-Mat since 2002 to provide information on the political orientation of the parties and personal agreement with these positions. There are now also alternatives to the Wahl-O-Mat that take a different approach to suggesting the right party to vote for.
