iPhone SE 4: Presentation reportedly planned for the near future
Apple's entry-level iPhone is on the verge of a major generation change. According to current rumors, the launch is planned for February 10.

Although the next generation of the iPhone SE is supposed to be significantly different from its predecessor, Apple is reportedly not planning a major presentation of the device at an event. According to a new media report, the most affordable of the new iPhones could be unveiled in the week beginning February 10. However, this is to take place solely on Apple's website. A release is planned for later in the month.
The next iPhone SE will be based on the iPhone 14. Instead of Touch ID, it will use Face ID facial recognition as biometric access, reports the US financial news agency Bloomberg. Attention is also being paid to compatibility with Apple's own AI, Apple Intelligence. The device is to be equipped with the latest processor, the A18, and 8 GB of RAM. The camera on the back is said to have a resolution of 48 megapixels.

With the complete overhaul of the budget model introduced in 2016, Apple wants to attract price-conscious buyers, say analysts. Above all, the iPhone manufacturer aims to prevent them from turning away and switching to other brands. The possibility of using AI at operating system level could tip the scales here.
There is another point of interest among experts: the iPhone SE 4, which has since been rumored to be called the "iPhone 16E" instead, is said to be the first iPhone to contain a 5G modem designed by Apple itself. This could herald a move away from Apple's supplier Qualcomm. Apple is said to have been working on the completion of its modem for years. Purchased knowledge from Intel's former modem division was used in the process. However, the development is said to have been characterized by all kinds of setbacks.

Old model sold out in many places
Sales of the previous model in various Apple stores in the USA indicate that the new iPhone SE will be released soon. There is also a need for action regarding the EU market. Here, both the current iPhone SE and the iPhone 14 have already been discontinued at the end of 2024, as both devices are charged via the Lightning connector. However, a USB-C port is now mandatory in the EU.
