Cases retrofit iPhone 16e with MagSafe
Apple's new entry-level iPhone confusingly comes without the standard charging technology. At least you can make do with magnetic cases.

One of the big surprises with the iPhone 16e presented yesterday is that Apple has simply omitted its popular MagSafe charging technology from a brand-new iPhone. However, users of the smartphone, which costs a minimum of 699 euros, will not have to do without wireless charging altogether: The 16e supports the old Qi standard (instead of Qi2) with fewer watts and without magnetic attachment to the charger. Some clever case manufacturers now see the gap in the market and are supplementing MagSafe magnets (or magnets that are aligned like MagSafe) with special cases that allow the somewhat slower Qi charging process on Magsafe chargers. The first well-known brands already announced this on Wednesday evening. Although this is not true MagSafe, it at least helps to ensure that the iPhone 16e stays on a MagSafe charger.
dbrand and Zagg at the start
The provider Zagg sent out an e-mail with the information that there are three plastic cases for the 16e with an integrated magnet. They are called Milan Snap, Crystal Palace Snap and Santa Cruz. Crystal Palace Snap is completely without color accent, Santa Cruz is partially colored in pink and light blue. Milan Snap is completely black and is designed to offer a “secure grip” so that the device does not fall out of the user's hand too easily. Be careful when buying: Zagg, which sells the cases for 40 and 45 euros respectively, also has some 16e cases on offer that come without a magnet. They are slightly cheaper.

Competitor dbrand also offers iPhone 16e cases with an additional function. Their Grip Case is explicitly described as “MagSafe compatible” – What Apple says about the use of the brand remains unclear. The case is available from 55.90 US dollars in various covers and prints, for which dbrand is known, and you can also choose various additional products such as stands. Amusingly, there is even a skin for Apple's MagSafe charger that shows its inner workings.
Apple cases from Apple without MagSafe
Apple itself, however, did not come up with the idea of supplying a MagSafe case. The company advertises its 45 euro first-party silicone cases for the 16e primarily with their colorfulness, as the new entry-level iPhone is only offered in the official colors black and white. There are a total of five shades, including “winter blue”, “fuchsia” and “sea green” in addition to black and white.
The silicone material is 55 percent recycled. As mentioned, there are no MagSafe features, but the case is said to be particularly stable and has undergone “thousands of hours of testing” during the design and manufacturing process. That's why it “not only looks great, but is also designed to protect your iPhone from scratches and drops”, Apple's marketing material exults.
