System cameras are not cheap – In addition to the body, which can cost thousands of euros, the lens often costs a lot (or even more). This makes it all the more important to protect the devices from loss. Apple's UWB and Bluetooth tracker AirTag is often used for this purpose, as it is comparatively inexpensive and reliable. But how should you attach the small tag to a camera? The accessory specialist ElevationLab now has an answer: a quick-release plate (mount) made of carbon fiber material that has space for a hidden Apple tracker.

The AirTag Camera Plate costs less than 20 US dollars each and is equipped with the Arca quick-release system (i.e., not Manfrotto 200PL). It should fit most cameras from Sony to Nikon and is attached with a screw that can be securely tightened using a Torx driver (supplied). Although the quick-release plate is slightly higher than regular ones, it is not immediately obvious that it contains an AirTag, as it is completely flush.

However, the idea itself is not new – There is a whole range of competing products on Amazon, including those made of metal, which look less high-quality but are priced similarly to ElevationLab (20 euros each). The AirTag Camera Plate is also 25 percent cheaper in a pack of two (30 dollars).

ElevationLab recently launched the TimeCapsule, a 10-year AirTag housing. Thanks to two AA batteries, it should last significantly longer than the button cell used by Apple. The price: 20 dollars each, 40 dollars for a pack of four. Another new product is a type of security lock for AirTags, including a cable connector – but there is also plenty of competition on Amazon & Co.

The problem with ElevationLab products at the moment, however, is that the company cannot deliver to Europe, which it did for years without any problems. Currently, it only ships directly to the USA, and the company's Amazon.com store does not ship to Germany either – or the products are not even displayed there when browsing from Europe. ElevationLab was unable to provide any information on request as to when deliveries will be possible again.
