Trello users will soon be able to collect tasks in a mailbox and have them converted by AI. Another new feature is a calendar; both are still in beta.

The US software company Atlassian is expanding its Kanban tool Trello with additional functions. They include an AI-supported inbox, a redesigned organization system and a calendar. These changes are designed to make users more productive. The new features are currently still part of a closed beta test. A release for all users is planned for April.
AI sorts tasks from the mailbox
Trello users can collate tasks from different sources and collect them in their inbox. On iOS devices, tasks can be added to Trello using a Siri voice command. Alternatively, manual input is also possible directly in the Android or iOS app. Users can also add Slack messages to their inbox using an app shortcut, the "Save later" function or an emoji reaction. It is also possible to forward emails directly to the Trello inbox. In addition, Jira tickets can be integrated into Trello boards with keywords or filters.
A new Trello AI analyzes the raw text of the tasks stored in the inbox and extracts due dates, action items and priorities from it. Users can then structure the tasks themselves. The tool provides ready-made lists such as "To-Dos" or "In progress" and over 100 other templates. Alternatively, users can also create their own tables and customize them with user-defined labels, checklists and automations. Trello cards can also be displayed in multiple boards. The application applies changes to the card to all boards accordingly.
Planner: Calendar with Google integration
With the Trello Planner, Atlassian's software will soon also include a calendar. It can be linked to Google Calendar so that users can view their appointments and tasks in parallel. They can also drag tasks from the inbox or a list into the calendar. The tasks can either be transferred to a new appointment or assigned to an existing appointment. In addition to Google Calendar, integration with Microsoft Outlook is also planned.

Collecting tasks from emails and Slack messages as well as the inbox are part of the free Trello package. It also includes a limited version of the calendar, which only has a viewing mode. Starting with the standard package for five US dollars per month, customers have access to the full version of Trello Planner, in which tasks can be transferred to the calendar. An overview of the functions of the update can be found on the Atlassian blog. Most recently, the open source project management tool OpenProject also received an extended range of functions with the update to version 15.3.
