Rainbow of colors in blue: Apple sells MagSafe power cable in six shades
The MacBook Air M4 surprises with a sky blue color version. But this is not the only area where new Apple products have fallen into the color pot.

You either love this look – or you hate it: Apple's MacBook Air M4 is now also available in "Sky Blue" alongside standard colors such as silver, polar star (a gold tone) and midnight (a black tone tending towards dark blue). Initial hands-on videos show that the color of the machine, which is due to be launched on the market next week, is quite vibrant. Apple is obviously hoping to attract new target groups. Even an important accessory has been colored accordingly: the enclosed power cable. However, the manufacturer has gone a little overboard here: it is only one color out of half a dozen.
Power cable in six colors
For a long time, Apple was conservative with the colors of its Macs. They were available in silver and space gray, later also in gold or rose. Special versions in plastic – such as the first MacBook – in white or black achieved cult status. The MacBook Pro is now also available again in a darker shade, which Apple calls "space black". However, – – is increasingly going all out with the MacBook Air and the iMac. The latter is even available in green or orange.
Now the color rain is also coming to power cables. Apple will be selling them in no less than six different colors from next week. In addition to sky blue, the USB-C to MagSafe 3 cable in a length of two meters will also be available in space grey, midnight, polar star, space black and classic silver (with white cable). Apple wants 55 euros for this, plus 3.99 euros for express delivery if you wish.

The iMac goes for the seven
Space gray, midnight and space black are not easy to distinguish, with polar star and sky blue standing out in particular. As the cables often disappear under the desk, the colors are only likely to be noticed by insiders. Somewhat unsightly: The USB-C plug on most of the cables is not colored, but stands out with white. Only the version in space black is also black.
Meanwhile, the Magic Keyboard, Magic Trackpad and Magic Mouse are only available in the standard colors white and black in individual sales. If you want to have the input devices in colorful – there are seven (!) variants –, you have to buy an iMac, because they are only offered in color together with it. But what is not, can still be.
