Bluetooth problems with iPhone 16e: Stuttering and interruptions
Apple's new entry-level iPhone comes with Apple's own 5G modem. It works well – but there are currently reports of Bluetooth bugs with the 16e.

Various forums have been reporting difficulties with the brand new iPhone 16e in connection with audio devices connected via Bluetooth. When streaming music, podcasts and the audio part of videos, there are short dropouts during playback ("stuttering") or occasionally longer drop-outs. It is currently still unclear whether this is a problem that can be solved by software and how widespread the problem is.
Problems with multiple connections?
In addition to loudspeakers, various headsets for making calls and Apple's own AirPods are also affected, according to reports. Bose devices from the QuietComfort series are allegedly less sensitive, according to a six-page thread in Apple's support forum. "With my 12 mini, which I replaced with the 16e, I never had any problems with stuttering audio over Bluetooth," writes one affected person.

Apple itself has not yet commented on the problem. Some devices are said to have already been replaced – both the 16e itself and AirPods. However, this is said to have done nothing to help. It is speculated that the 16e has difficulties handling several Bluetooth connections at the same time, such as headphones, speakers and a computer watch connected via Bluetooth. Some users were able to restore regular audio transmission after deactivating one of the connections. However, this cannot be the solution.
C1 is new, but WLAN and Bluetooth are probably not
The iPhone 16e is the first Apple phone to be delivered with the in-house developed 5G radio modem C1. There have been reports that Apple is also planning its own Bluetooth and Wi-Fi chips to replace 5G supplier Qualcomm and radio chip provider Broadcom. However, there has been no news of this being implemented so far; the 16e apparently still contains Broadcom technology. It is also unclear whether the C1 will interfere with Bluetooth.
Affected users with a 16e should currently contact Apple's support so that the company can understand the extent of the problem and fix it if necessary. The latest beta versions of iOS 18.4 have not yet fixed the errors, according to reports.
