Following the recent iOS update to version 18.3.2 of the iPhone operating system, there have been several user reports of difficulties using Apple's email service iCloud Mail. This is reported by Macrumors. Although full access to e-mail is not disrupted, the usual delivery via push no longer takes place. The fetch process also fails in some cases. Users are only informed about the receipt of new mails if they manually start the Apple Mail app on the iPhone and initiate a refresh there using a drag gesture.
It no longer pushes and refreshes
Initially, only iCloud Mail, which is part of Apple's in-house cloud package, appears to be affected. Other services such as Microsoft 365 are delivering messages as usual, it said. “I'm having an issue with iCloud Mail on my iPhone after updating to iOS 18.3.2,” wrote one affected person in a lengthy thread on Reddit. “New emails are not being pushed to my device even though all the correct settings are enabled, and it worked fine on 18.3.1.”

Apple did not provide any information in the iOS 18.3.2 package insert that there were any changes within Apple Mail on the iPhone. The only published innovation was the correction of errors in the playback of “certain streaming content”, and problematic security gaps were also plugged. However, when iOS 18 was introduced, there were massive difficulties in connection with IMAP accounts from Vodafone, among others. However, this issue appears to have nothing to do with the latest error messages.
Troubleshooting is still pending
There are currently no working tips on how to solve the problem. Users can only try to follow these Apple instructions to check access. However, this does not provide a remedy. It is also conceivable that the problem is a server error, as the push message comes from the same server. However, Apple does not currently mention any issues on its system status website and has not done so in the past few days.
Meanwhile, the bug also appears to occur with the beta version of iOS 18.4. Apple distributed a fourth version of this to developers this week.
