Retail Stores: Apple gets global store manager
The well-known multi-manager Deirdre O'Brien is relieved: a new "Global Head of Stores" will now report to her.

New restructuring measures in Apple's top management: the iPhone company's now more than 530 retail stores will once again have a central boss for the first time. Vanessa Trigub, previously responsible for the stores in the west of the American continent, has been given the position of "Global Head of Stores" and is therefore responsible for the entire store business, including overseeing the Europe and Middle East, Asia-Pacific and America East regions. This was reported by the financial news agency Bloomberg. The idea is to take some of the pressure off Deirdre O'Brien, Apple's Senior Vice President Retail + People and Head of Human Resources and Retail. Bloomberg speculates that Trigub's job may also prepare her to take over for O'Brien one day.
Back and forth at the top of retail and HR
Apple's retail boss position was not an easy one after the departure of Apple Store founder Ron Johnson in 2011. A first successor left quickly, but his successor, a former Burberry manager, stayed for five years. O'Brien, who actually has enough to do in her job as HR manager, always stepped in when there was a need. She has been with Apple for over 30 years and brought calm to the division. In the meantime, Apple had its own HR manager again, which took the pressure off O'Brien. But she left again after 20 months. Since then – Fall 2024 –, O'Brien has once again had the double burden that Apple now apparently wants to help her with.

Apple did not initially confirm the personnel change. According to Bloomberg, this results in a new "reporting structure" that firstly gives Trigub more responsibility and secondly brings more clarity to the retail area. O'Brien now has fewer people reporting directly to her. Instead, she now talks to Trigub and vice presidents for online sales, marketing and real estate. On the HR side, O'Brien herself is working on further restructuring measures in the organization, it was further reported. Trigub herself has been with Apple for many years – She did her first internship in 2007 when the iPhone was released. She later worked in finance, acquisitions and retail. Since 2023, she has been responsible for Apple Retail in the West of America. Meanwhile, Apple could do with some new stores in Germany. Expansion has been stalled for some time.
Restructuring for Siri too
There have recently been major changes in Apple's Siri department.
Vision Pro father Mike Rockwell was made the new head here after AI boss John Giannandrea had problems implementing announced functions on time. Rockwell is said to have criticized the slow progress of Siri for years, and now he has been given the chance to do better.
