Update withdrawn: Apple makes watchOS 11.4 disappear
The latest version of the Apple Watch operating system was actually already ready. However, together with iOS 18.4 and macOS 15.4, it was not released after all.

Updates for all devices, but one is missing: Apple made iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4, macOS 15.4, tvOS 18.4, HomePod OS 18.4 and visionOS 2.4 available for download yesterday evening, but apparently forgot about the new operating system for the Apple Watch. watchOS 11.4 had been widely expected and had long been released as a release candidate (RC) version. However, for some unknown reason, Apple withdrew the update. Anyone currently trying to update watchOS will be told that watchOS 11.3.2 is the latest version. Apple's Security Updates website also only lists this version.
What watchOS 11.4 should be able to do
According to the release notes of the RC version, the planned new features in watchOS 11.4 include support for robot vacuum cleaners in the Home app, including voice automation, a bug fix for a problem with quick clock face changes and the option to make the alarm clock ring loudly even in silent mode. The update is also likely to include a whole host of security fixes, assuming iOS 18.4 and the like.

Apple had withdrawn watchOS 11.4 at short notice. Some US Apple media have already announced its availability. It is conceivable that the update was released briefly, but then withdrawn due to unknown issues. At present (Tuesday morning), it no longer appears on the devices – neither in the query on the Watch itself nor in the Watch app on the iPhone.
Updates were premature anyway
Some Apple observers were surprised that the updates had already been released on Monday, March 31. The German version of Apple Intelligence had originally been announced for April, but it arrived yesterday. It remains unclear what prompted Apple to bring the date forward. However, the company has recently had to contend with delays to important functions, with the improved Siri not expected to be released until 2026.
It is expected that watchOS 11.4 will be released in the next few days. A comparison of the build number will show whether Apple has tweaked the update again. The alarm clock function in particular is eagerly awaited by many users, as the problem has been bothering many for a long time.
