Australian software developer Canva has released version 2.0 of its Canva Visual Suite graphics software. The design suite for visual communication combines all supported design types, including presentations, social media graphics, videos, print products and websites, in one overview.
A standardized file format eliminates the need for separate tools and workflows: Users should be able to plan, design and deploy marketing campaigns in the same workspace, for example.
In the future, the Canva AI voice assistant will unite all of Canva's generative AI tools in one workflow, for example by changing the aspect ratio of a design at the prompt. For now, the tool is only available in the USA and the UK.

Spreadsheet: Canva Sheets
With the Canva Sheets tool, the manufacturer is adding a spreadsheet that is intended to combine data, text, and design. The manufacturer wants to pick up users who have difficulties with Excel and similar programs.
The AI environment Magic Studio has already helped with designing graphics or writing texts. In the future, it will also provide support when working with tables. An autofill function offers suggestions for data entry. An AI chat assistant will be used to analyze table data and retrieve the results as Magic Insights. The data can be transferred to other documents as a table or infographic. The AI tool Magic Charts is designed to generate infographics or animated diagrams from data sets.

Programming: Canva Code
Interactive designs are created in the AI environment Canva Code, for example for teaching materials or presentations. The manufacturer names calculators, forms, and dynamic index cards as examples that Canva Code generates from simple prompts.
Image editing: Canva Photo Editor
Finally, the company adds AI-supported image editing. Canva Photo Editor edits and exports image material via prompts. According to Canva, users can select, retouch and replace motifs at the click of a mouse. The AI generates backgrounds and takes lighting and layout into account.

AI guidelines and royalties for authors
The manufacturer calls its safety and ethics approach for AI tools Canva Shield. According to Canva, it moderates the training data as well as input and output, among other things, to reduce the so-called AI bias, which can distort results due to human bias in the training data.
Canva is also committed to responsible AI development. This includes a $200 million Creator Fund, through which Canva pays royalties to creators when their content is used in AI-generated designs. Creators will also receive payments when their content is used in published AI outputs and are eligible for monthly royalties if they opt in to AI training, according to Canva.
Pricing and availability
According to the manufacturer, Canva Visual Suite 2.0 is available immediately. The free basic version Canva Free comes with 5 GB of cloud storage, some design templates and AI tools. Canva Pro costs 110 euros per person per year. The paid version offers photos, videos, graphics and an unlimited number of premium templates, more AI tools, one TByte of online storage and customer service. There are also offers for teams and companies.
